The fence that solves three New Jersey problems at once

Ornamental aluminum has quietly become the default answer for a large share of northern New Jersey properties, and it is because of three specific problems it solves better than anything else. It meets pool code without looking like a safety barrier. It racks to follow sloped ground instead of leaving gaps underneath. And it never rusts, rots or needs repainting — which matters in a state that puts a fence through freeze, thaw, road salt and humidity every single year.

That combination is why we install it on such different properties. It goes around pools in Bergen and Somerset County backyards, along estate driveways in the Somerset Hills and the Northern Valley, down the sloped lots of the Watchung ridge in Essex, and around commercial and municipal sites where an open sight line is a security feature rather than a compromise. The same material, specified differently each time.

What decides whether an aluminum fence looks right in ten years is not the panel — it is the installation. Aluminum is rigid, so a post that heaves in the first hard winter pulls its whole section out of line, and it shows. We set every post below the frost line, rack panels to the actual grade rather than forcing a straight line the ground does not have, and hang and adjust every gate on site. Our own crew does all of it. Nothing is subcontracted.

What actually separates a good aluminum install

Four decisions that determine whether your fence is still straight and swinging true a decade from now.

Below frost

Post depth, every post

Aluminum panels are rigid — a post that heaves takes the whole section with it. We set below the local frost line so the run stays true through New Jersey freeze-thaw cycles.

Rackable

Panels that follow your grade

Aluminum racks better than any other material we install. On sloped lots the panel pivots with the ground instead of leaving a wedge of daylight underneath.

BOCA

Pool-code hardware from the start

Four-foot minimum height, picket spacing under four inches, self-closing and self-latching gate with the latch mounted out of a child's reach. Built to pass inspection first time.

Powder coat

A finish that does not rust

Powder-coated aluminum will not rust, rot, or need repainting the way wrought iron and steel do. Black, bronze and white are the finishes we install most across NJ.

From free estimate to final walkthrough

Four transparent steps, permits included, with a workmanship warranty at the end of it.

1

Free on-site estimate

We walk the fence line, measure, check grade and gate swings, confirm your setbacks, and hand you an itemized written estimate. No pressure and no obligation.

2

Style, height & permits

We help you choose the picket profile and height — including whether your project needs to meet pool code — then file the township permit and coordinate the utility markout.

3

Precision installation

Posts set plumb and below frost, panels racked to follow grade, gates hung and adjusted on site. Most residential aluminum installs finish in one to two days.

4

Walkthrough & warranty

We test every gate latch with you, adjust anything that needs it on the spot, clear the site, and hand over your workmanship warranty and the manufacturer paperwork.

What you get when Fence Pro by Bruno installs your aluminum fence

Pool inspections passed first time

We build pool enclosures to BOCA code from the first post — correct height, spacing and self-closing, self-latching gate hardware. No second inspection, no re-work.

Sloped and rocky lots handled

From the Palisades to the Ramapo foothills, we rack panels to follow grade and core into rock for proper post depth rather than setting short.

"They installed black aluminum around our pool and passed inspection the first time — the inspector actually commented on the gate hardware. Clean lines, no gaps on the slope, and they cleaned up completely."

Aluminum fence installation questions, answered

Straight answers on cost, pool code, slopes and permits. Anything not covered here, call us.

How much does aluminum fence installation cost in New Jersey?
Cost depends on linear footage, height, picket style, the number and size of gates, and site conditions. Ornamental aluminum sits at the premium end of the market — above chain link and standard vinyl, comparable to or above cedar depending on the style. Pool enclosures cost more per foot than a plain property line because of the gate hardware and code requirements. We measure on site and give you a written itemized estimate before any work starts, and 0% financing is available.
Does aluminum fencing rust?
No. Aluminum does not rust — that is the main reason it replaced wrought iron and steel for residential fencing in New Jersey. The powder-coated finish protects the surface and does not need repainting, and because there is no iron in the material there is nothing to corrode even where the coating is scratched. This is why it is the standard choice for pool enclosures and coastal-influenced properties.
Is aluminum fence pool-code compliant in NJ?
It can be, and it is the most common compliant choice we install. A pool barrier in New Jersey must be at least four feet high, have picket spacing under four inches, and use a self-closing, self-latching gate with the latch positioned out of a small child's reach. Not every aluminum style meets this — the spacing and height have to be specified for it. We build pool enclosures to code from the start so they pass inspection the first time.
How long does an aluminum fence installation take?
Most residential aluminum installs finish in one to two days on site once we start. Larger properties, long runs on acreage and commercial projects can run three to five days. The bigger variable is usually the permit timeline, which depends on your township — we file as soon as you approve the estimate so that clock starts early.
Can aluminum fence be installed on a slope?
Yes, and it handles slope better than any other material we install. Aluminum panels rack — the pickets pivot at the rails so the panel follows the grade while the pickets stay vertical. On steeper pitches we step the run instead. We assess the grade during the free estimate and tell you which method your line calls for.
Do you handle the township permit for an aluminum fence?
Yes. We prepare the zoning application, supply the plot plan showing height, location and setbacks, pay the filing fee and schedule any required inspection. It is part of your written estimate, not a separate charge. We do not start digging until the approval is in hand and utilities are marked.
What warranty comes with an aluminum fence installation?
Two layers. Our workmanship warranty from Fence Pro by Bruno covers the installation itself, in writing. The aluminum and its powder-coated finish carry the manufacturer's warranty — we install Catalyst and Eastern Ornamental, and we hand you that paperwork at the final walkthrough.
Aluminum or vinyl — which should I choose?
They solve different problems. Aluminum gives you an open sight line, meets pool code, handles slopes cleanly and never needs painting; it does not give you privacy. Vinyl gives you full privacy and is generally less expensive per foot, but it is a solid wall and it does not rack as well on grade. In practice most homeowners pick aluminum for the pool, the front yard and sloped lines, and vinyl for the rear yard where they want to be unseen. We are happy to quote both on the same visit.
